June 2009:

1. What is QASI?
In short QASI is the predecessor of ASIA. Prior to the Amateur Ski Instructors Association (ASIA) breaking away from the United States Eastern Amateur Ski Association (USEASA) (also PSIA’s birthplace) in 1980 their instructors were called Qualified Amateur Ski Instructor (QASI). Bill Hornbeck was founder and Executive Director of ASIA.

3. What do HVSC alumni David Allen, Steve Calhoun, Mary DeNitto and Roni Keller have in common?
They comprised the HVSC Officers for the 1978--1979 season. David Allen was President; Steve Calhoun, Vice President; Mary DeNitto, Treasurer; and, Roni Keller, Secretary. Dick Moro served on the Board as Past-President.
Other members of the 1978--1979 Executive Committee included Linda Schulman; Advertising Chair; Dick Andrew, Cross-Country Chairman; Si Feilen, Discount Ticket Chairman & NJ Ski Coucil Rep; Hemang, Flyer Editor; Maria Anzelone, Membership chairman; QASI Chairman, Bud Foucher; Jim McGarry, Racing Chairman.
Ad Hoc Committee chairmen included Marion Suavez, Queen Contest Chair; Don Roy, Christmas Party chairman; Sandy Edelman, Tennis and Racquetball Chair.

February 2009:
Which happy HVSC club members met with a New England Patriot's Cheerleader at Killington in 1999?

On that trip, HVSC members John Mongero and Chet Allen were photographed with a New England Patriots Cheerleader. For photographic evidence and more information regarding this event, see the “Photo Gallery” page (or go directly to the Killington -- January 1999 page.).

January 2009:
Who made the 10,000th visit to the club’s website and in what year did that happen?
On September 14, 1999 by pure chance Al Mauri was the 10,000th visitor to the website. In October he was presented with an award and entertained by Miss Maui-Maui of 1945. December 2008:
What was the most recent year a husband and wife BOTH served on the HVSC Board of Directors (at the same time)?
For that you would have to look at the 2005—2006 season when Frank and Shirley Rinaldi were both on the board. The previous time that the conditions were met was in 2001—2002 when Jackie Martzinek served as President and Bob Martzinek was on the board. (For those that guessed the Eschbachs — Herb vacated the board in 2005, the year before Sue was elected Secretary.)
