Ski Education

Hudson Valley Ski Club will offer on most trips, FREE instruction for beginners and intermediate skiers (up to parallel skiing for downhill).  Lessons are also available at other times, based on instructor availability  by contacting the Alpine Ski Education Committee Chairman listed above.

A.S.I.A. TheAlpine Ski Education committee will try for at least one instructor to be on all Club trips. Exceptions are any Western or European trips.

For all new skiers, this is a wonderful opportunity to learn how to ski.  And to meet skiers at your level to ski with when the lessons are done.

Who is eligible to take lessons?

  1. At least TWO regular members (see exception in No. 4 below) on a particular club trip must request lessons on any given day in order for an A.S.I.A.  instuctor to offer lessons on that day.
  2. The minimum two people must consist of regular members; any guest on the trip may request to be included in the group lesson after the minimum of two members has been fulfilled.

  3. Each regular member on the ski trip is entitled to a lesson each day on a weekend ski trip. Guests are also welcome to take multiple lessons IF the 2-regular minimum is met (as in No. 2 above).
  4. The only exception to the 2-regular member minimum is that if one regular member is anywhere from never-ever to a low intermediate skier and wants lessons, but the 2-person minimum cannot be met, then the Club will reimburse the one skier for one group ski lesson per weekend trip provided by the Mountain ski school. The skier should pay for the lesson himself and request reimbursement from the Club treasurer.
  5. Nonmembers (guests) will NOT be provided Mountain ski school lessons at Club expense under any circumstances.
